Derby Community Parent Programme is delivered through Ripplez CIC, in affiliation with Parents 1st and is focused on providing quality volunteer peer support to vulnerable expectant parents in Derby.

Emma Roberts is 1-1 Coordinator for Derby Community Parent Programme. Emma supports volunteers to provide safe, effective and evidence-based peer support through pregnancy, birth and beyond. Emma represents the programme at all safeguarding meetings and is responsible for ensuring safe practice. Having been a part of DCPP since the very first Cohort of volunteers, Emma has lots of experience of providing  peer support through pregnancy and during labour and birth in both a volunteer and Peer Support Worker Capacity.

Shelley is Community Co-ordinator for Derby Community Parent Programme. In her role Shelley has  successfully set up links within the community to support expectant and new parents.  Shelley has also developed partnership working with Derby Royal Hospital in Derby City to enable DCPP to provide this peer support directly on the Labour ward, Antenatal, Pre & Post Natal Wards and the Mother & Baby Mental Health Unit – looking at ways to link the support available by health professionals with the support available in the community.   Shelley began her journey as a volunteer, and continues to support families during pregnancy, labour & birth alongside her work role.

Derby Community Parent Programme has seen some really positive outcomes as a result of strengths based, non-judgemental peer support in Derby City and would love to see this type of support rolled out nationally and available to everyone who may benefit.
